New Windows 7 To Present Users With A Variety Of Browsers Within The Install Procedure
Microsoft have announced that subject to approval by the commission, they will be integrating an option screen into the new windows 7 release for sale in europe, This means that upon the installation, users will be able to choose which browser they wish to install, the install screen will display a list of popular current browsers including internet expolorer, firefox, safari, google chrome and opera.
Upon making the selection the user will then be linked to the relevent download server where they can obtain their browser installation files. computer repair in north london This is great news for the vast number of people who do not like internet exporer as a browser, I myself use mozilla firefox, as I have done for over 5 years, I find it far superior to Internet Explorer in every way, firstly there are countless toolbars and add ons for every purpose, as a webmaster i can use firefox to check the ranking of my sites at the click of a button it will display my position in every major search engine for all my keywords. Its highly configurable and there are even hundreds of skins to change its appearance. I can export my bookmarks and passwords to back up incase of a system problem, and in addition it allows you to securely save passwords for sites and forums in the browser and auto logon to these sites by using one master password. There is just not this type of diversity availiable for IE, but it does look like microsoft are finally getting good at realizing that they are not the only option.
Windows 7 looks like it is a really great operating system, and my honest opinion is that it should be a huge success, my only complaint is the fact that they are planning to charge us europeans TWICE the amount that USA residents will be asked to pay. I can see no justification to this whatsoever. To be honest this is the only reason I would believe substantial enough to stop me buying this software, either that or I would look to import it by buying from Ebay.com. The USA operating system is after all, an almost identical version and certainly not different enough to warrant twice the asking price. Windows 7 will also boast a special feature for compatibility with XP software, if the software fails to run on windows 7, the user can open up what is in effect a window with an xp version of their pc on it, this appears to be set up in much the same way modern virtual desktops work, with the ability to share or partition disk space between the two systems.
Although full inherant backwards compatibility would have been nice, this sytem appears to be there for the odd program that wont run, rather than for all xp programs, so I believe most software should be fine, microsoft have announced that this xp virtual feature will only be available on business orientated windows 7 releases computer repair in west london
